What are good condition LWBs targas going for these days?
I’m looking at a 72 911 targa and would like to hear what you guys think is fair price…just a ballpark. What is good condition? No wrecks, straight car, paint is 8-10 years old, looks good, no rust visible anywhere, floor pan/battery area very clean, interior replaced within 5 years (original seats recovered, newer carpet), engine rebuilt 5 years ago, runs strong, no leaks, good compression, good condition fuchs and tires, roof does not leak. All original trim in good condition for 30+ years old.
In short, the car does not "need" anything, runs strong and is reliable. What’s a fair price? V/r Wayne C. |

they all have rust, just a matter of finding where...
what kind of targa is it? T ? E ? S? is the engine original , is the intake original? does it come with original wheels? tool kit? etc etc... the price differences are always in the details.... the difference can be extreme

I'd probably say around $10-12k is reasonable...? The market on early 911s seems to be in a weird transition spot right now, if there is such a thing. At first there were very few cars for sale, and then demand went crazy, prices went crazy, then all the good cars started showing up, and now, I feel like a lot of that hype has died down...and some of the decent cars are still around. Right now, I think there are a fair number of cars available, at slightly higher (than before the upward trend started) prices. YMMV

$10k for a good rust free original driver and $40k+ for condition 1 depending on the details and options, thats not concours . sky is the limit for concours original cars with sought after options.

Thanks guys. The difference in what you can get for $5-7k and $10-12k is huge. I don't want to over pay and I don't want to miss out on a fair deal.
I'll have some pics tomorrow. Wayne C. |
