Play in transmission
Need some help here. When I push and release the throttle pedal in my 1984 3.2 911, I can feel some play between the engine and the transmission...It is more observable in the first and second gear and I can see the shifter go back and forth. Any advice from transmission whiz is welcome...Thank you.

zefsuper911,
I think you mean that when you drive your car, and you accelerate or decelerate, you can see movement in the shifter. This is caused by the engine and transmission moving together. If you think the movement is excessive, check your motor mounts. There are four mounts, two at the very back of the car, and two underneath by the front of the transmission. They are easy to change if you need to. Also check that engine mount bar has not worked loose from the engine - this can happen with mag cases (don't I know). Rex
