Estimates on selling price on 77 C3?
I am just bouncing ideas through my head so I am not definitely thinking of selling. Anyways, it's a 77 Carrera 3.0. The odometer says 67000 but being a euro I have no idea. It does run really strong and has a new paint job. I did it myself so I would rate it an 8. Just did exterior and door sills. Any rot I found I cut out and replaced. It does not have any window regulators, or door panals, the front suspension needs to be tightened up, new bushings I was told. I have new Boge struts but haven't had time to put in. No heat or a/c. Battery short at blinker switch. It will kill battery after a few days. Really nice radio I was thinking of pulling. Wiring harness in the rear works but I could suspect problems in the future. Just looks real old. My intention for the car was to make it a real dependable working car that looked pretty good.
Picture ![]() Again, not planning on selling but trying to run a few scenarios. Not sure what the market is. Better to sell now? Better to finish what I started? Sell/keep? No don't sells please. This is for informational purposes only. Thanks, David |

I just thought this was the coolest picture so I thought I would share. One of the fellow pelican took it.

David,
If you were NOT thinking of selling it to Pelicans then I'd say it would bring a lot more money just because it is so cosmetically fresh. Seems like C3's prices are going up and up these days. Without pictures of the interior but it sounds very unfinishedi n there, I'd hazard a gues of in the neighborhood of $12K plus. BUT if you finished all the interior cosmetics, left in the radio or substitued a good, not great head unit you could surely ask more. Depending on how complete you go with all these remaining issues you mentioned...are we getting close tothe $20K mark? I think maybe so. Just my $.02 My suggestion - proably what you will do anyway is to finish it. Enjoy the process of addressing these issues one by one by restoring, refurbishing or replacing. To me the process is almost as much fun as owning a perfect one when its done....well, almost.

Thanks Dan,my estimate was around $10k so that is good news. I will probably decide to finish because as you say, getting there is half the fun. One thing though, if I do finish I will probably gut the interior, make some door panels and some type of strap mechanism to get the windows up and down. I sort of am pass the returning to stock stage and I really do like things a bit different. I am a big fan of weight reduction.

David, I am no expert - don't take my word for the prices I mentioned. Others will chime in
If you are going to finish it and you're "past the point of returning it to stock-ish" then I'd definitely suggest a roll bar paint matched to the exterior. RS door panels would look great, maybe with the pull straps in matching Mexico blue? Corbeau Classic II seats? Oooh, I love it but "K.I.S.S." applies. Most guys that mess up have too much money and not enough taste; they don't know when to "lift the brush". At least that's my $.02.

I guess it all comes down to what one is willing to pay. Ballpark number was all I needed.
I was thinking a roll bar but I would keep it black. I am not too worried about anything over the top. I am into simplicity, maybe to much. I was thinking I would just pull all the carpet, clean up any of the loose stuff, POR-15 the inside and paint black. Nothing seems to fit in the back anyways so why not get rid of the seats and carpet. I made door panels a couple years ago I really liked but unfortunately they were for doors with power windows so they don't do me any good now. They were just flat black vinal. I will probably do the same but customize a bit to use straps for the window and the door release latch. Thanks, David |
