Register 911 in DC? Take 2

Sorry folks, let me try this again.

After being a lifelong resident of NoVA, my wife and I have just bought a place in DC and will be moving next month. I've heard some horror stories about the hassle of car registration in DC. Anyone have experience? In VA I have been exempt from emissions tests for a few years because of the car's age - same in DC? I'm still shocked that there is only ONE inspection station for the entire city. Anyone been there? With an old 911?

Thanks!

Oh, and if this is too OT please move it.

Miles, you should post this on www.Dorkiphus.com. There is a larger contingent of P-car driving DC residents on the board.
Good luck with the move.
