Correct method to plug/remove smog Lines

I m doing the SSI back date on my 79SC.
I have been spray the barrel and copper nuts on the stock headers for a week with pb Blaster.
All six copper nuts came free of the studs with minimal torque. YEAH since I dont have the long hex for the barrel nuts that will have to wait for tomorrow.
Again PB is great stuff. When i looked at the way the HE's were rusted out I thought I was going to have major problems.
But I got lucky.

I do need advice on how to remove and cap the smog lines???
the 3 metal smog lines going into the block loosened up with a 17mm flare nut end wrench YEAH again.... now what type and size of bolt?/cap nut? should I use to plug the holes in the block.Are these actually tapped ?
I'm not sure if a std metric or stainless bolt should be used??
what size ?? Any issue with alum block and a steel bolt i should be aware of??

Waynes 101 book doesn't cover it , the Bently doesn't I dont think , so I am conting on you guys .

This is what you want. They have the correct thread size, and they are inexpensive. If you get the cheap hardware store imitations in ASE threads, you will damage the threads in your head. Maybe that's not important, but why ruin a thread forever?

I did exactly last year what you're doing. Call PelicanParts and ask for Tom Gould and he'll help you get the right plugs. Remove the air lines and injectors from the engine block. Very simple task.

They are 10mm dia. x 1mm pitch threads. The 914 caliper plug referenced by Rex will work perfectly. Install it dry (no threadsealer) and torque it 'till you hear the little copper washer squeak.

You can also get short 10mm allen head set screws to plug them from a metric hardware supply house. That's what Wayne shows in his engine rebuild book (not the 101 projects book.)
