Angry I wrecked my 911

So last night I had an accident. Luckily no one was hurt. My passenger, a friend of mine, and myself didn't even have a scratch.
No one else was involved.

It was not my fault and the insurance and the police have agreed on that... Still my car is going to be a total loss...

I will be likely offered $18,500 minus $500 deductible... Since I have spent $35k in the last 6 months I will likely buy the car with a salvage title...

After that is all in the air... I really do not know what I want to do at this point... It took me 8 months to get the car as I wanted... 15 seconds to destroy it...

The dynamic of the accident is that someone cut in front of me... To avoid them I braked hard, locked the 4 wheels, lost if for a moment... regained it but too late as I hit the curb with both driver's side wheels... The slide on the curb ended up agaist a post...

Anyway I took some pics of the carnage... I am really sad, even though I consider myself fortunate that no-one was hurt...

Buy back the totalled car from the insurance company for whatever they want for it as it sits, probably about $3K. Then, interview a bunch of bodyshops, NOT necessarily Porsche only bodyshops - but reputable high volume collision shops that can get this done right. Ideally a place that can do both the heavy pulling AND the finishing work to your standards under one roof. Tell them you are going to pay CASH. Try to get a schedule commitment from them and stay on top of it. They will pull your car back into shape and you will be back on the road for $5K plus parts. Yes your car will have a salvage title, but you will also have plenty of cash leftover.

Thanks guys... I am still in shock.

The A arms are obviously gone, sway bars too. I think the spring plate on the driver side is gone. The frame looks bent in the front...

My big worry is that hit on the back... I really don't know what happened there... I hope the engine is fine...

This will be the excuse to open it up and go 3.8 RS...

The little one was already trying to help...

Matteo:

I'm very sorry to hear about this.... more important , perhaps, is to teach your inquisitive little one to keep delicate fingers away from fan blades.... running or not !! Bad habit to get into !!!...

I am not sure how it works in your state, but when you pay an insurance company to keep the car in this state, it does not have a salvage title. You never give them the title so they dont even have a chance to send it in as salvaged. Good luck and glad everyone was fine.

The insurance agent said I can buy it back but as they declare it a total loss it will automatically have a salvage title...

I'm sick. I really am. When I saw the title of this thread, I said to myself "please no, not that car".

Glad you're OK. Definitely get it back. There is alot of money in that car. I really feel for you Matteo. Good luck getting this sorted out.

1. Next time just hit the guy that cuts you off - might do less damage to your car.

2. Buy a long hood early roller and transfer over what parts you can.

Or not.

I had someone almost hit me today. I turned left this Sunday morning to go into a driveway (for a taste of pancakes) which was in a construction zone - 25 mph speed limit. There was a black Audi just coming onto the road and straightening out his car about 150 feet away. He must of gunned it, as he was doing about 45 mph as he flew by my tail. Scared my wife as he would of hit her side. I'm only going to take driveways so fast, the streets are not a race course.

It just amazes me that thread after thread we find out that peple do not adequately insure these cars for accidents....

Why???

Does everyone just figure "it can't happen to me" and that the old "family minivan" AAA insurance will be fine??

Keep posting these "loss after wreck" threads because people will slowly learn....

Nah.... they probably won't....
