Rennspeed RSR / IROC bumpers Install??
I am about to order the Rennspeed RSR/IROC f&R glass bumpers to go on an 84 Carrera. Has anyone purchased and fitted these. I understand they come with molded inserts do these match up with the bumper shocks? Do the bolts come through from the inside or outside (i.e. can you see bolt heads from the outside)
Generally do these fit well and are they workable to get a good consistent gap? Thanks Sam |
I've got the front mounted on an 83. The bolts line up with the bumper shocks and are glassed/epoxied in from the inside and are not visible. That being said, my car is a track car and I didn't mount it that way. For the money, I consider Peters' stuff to be pretty good.

Thanks
I appreciate the help - do you have any photos handy of how they look installed?

Rennspeed's stuff is great. But you need to be fairly familiar with fitting fiberglass -- it's not like buying somebody's used steel bumper and bolting it on.

Lower wing / skid plate
Did you make this or if not where did you find it?
Thanks for the help. |
Sam, sorry, I don't have any pictures handy. The lower spoiler can be home made out of aluminum or you can buy the piece from GT racing and then trim it to fit. There may be some other options that I am not aware of.
Ooops, I lied, just found a few... Rennspeed IROC front bumper (with an AIR logo on the bottom!) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1131514070.jpg Rennspeed IROC tail and B/W Ruf rear bumper http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1131514212.jpg |
Brian, where did you get those fancy wheels?
|
You know I can't afford'em!!! They are Tim's that I used at the last DE.... Sometime in the next five years, after everyone is out of diapers, maybe I could get a set of CCWs...
|
Why get new wheels when you have mine : )

Fit?
I just received my bumpers from Rennspeed (excellent service start to finish) and they look great.
The bumpers have threaded studs mounted on the inside face and my bumper shocks appear to have studs welded on their outside face. Can I use the bumper shocks? If so what is the best way to remove the studs? Thanks |
I would cut off the studs on the bumper shock, grind flush and drill to accomadate the studs molded in on the bumper.
The FG looks to be of nice quality, I am planning to do the FG thing to my new ride. Cheers |
Looking forward to seeing your progress, I'm interested in the same mod.
|
Any progress on this? I am in line for FG bits as well.
Nice rides. |
Another vote in favor of the Rennspeed IROC bumpers. Rear required no trimming at all, but the front needed a large relief cut in the top. Didn't use the studs (those bumper shocks are HEAVY).
|
how did you support it without the shocks?
j i have similar problem have an iroc bumper , with no prefabbed plates on it ... and the bumper shocs are gone already anyway. did you fabricate aluminum to hold bumper off chaszsis? tanks frank

Heres an image of my car with both front & rear bumpers and ducktail wing from Rennspeed. Everything fit great.

I have those bumpers. Check out my build to see how I installed them. Very lightweight!
