When I disassembled my 3.3L I could swear there are twice as many parts as my 3.0L SC engine had. The CIS and Exhaust system alone have a gazillion parts.
I'm afraid it soon won't be worth rebuilding these engines. A few more years and all the available parts will be for restorations and vintage show cars. I don't know of anyone producing new cases. The old cases are going to start showing heat and age problems.
Hot rod rebuilding is an order of magnitude more expensive. I paid $500 four years ago for a set of ARP head studs. I am ashamed of how much was spent on the engine. Mike is right about the cost, pure foolishness.

I'm so glad I swapped my 930 for a M491TL. I like how much more simple it is, when u open the decklid of the 930 u can barely see the motor yet alone getting to it. I'm over my purist phase, every time I remove something to simplify it, it drives soooo much better than a standard heavy ladden lux optioned 3.2's
