Musings on fitting 6 speed G50 to my '89

Well, the saga continues, namely the work to get a G50/20 six speed into my '89 restoration project. This life thing gets in the way, but in a nutshell, the current plan is to shorten the bell housing by 28 mm (a la G50 fitment into a 915 car), and then trimming the mounting boss from the front, and then via combination of using the 30mm or so space that was in front of the stock 5 speed G50 and moving the engine back a tad....well, it ought to give enough room for the 63 mm increased length of the 6 speed. Oh yeah, there is absolutely no good reason to do this....I just want to. I am nuts.

Anway, I have been working with a Turbo flywheel, intending to use a Turbo spring centred disc and Turbo pressure plate and G50 throw out bearing. I bought a new Sachs aluminium pressure plate on eBay....discovered it is actually a Ruf custom part as used on their cars, allegedly for a C2 flywheel. It is quite a neat part, very light and according to Ruf, retails for about $1250....not bad considering I paid $60 for it new and in box. I'd love to use it just as it appeals to my Dutch frugal instincts.....

Conundrum, as the pressure plate outer circumference is slightly smaller than the Turbo pressure plate, and I was musing whether it would work. The bolts all line up, just the OD of the pressure plate is about 5 mm smaller than the ID of the Turbo pressure plate flange.

Thought crossed my mind...what about using the whole G50 C2 RS set up....single mass flywheel, spring centred disc, throw out bearing and all. I think that the C2 flywheel
bolts onto the 74.4 mm crankshaft, it is thinner than the dual mass flywheel which ought to allow the bell housing to be shortened and it definitely works with a G50....

Am I missing anything? Any insights as to why it would/would not work?
