Tommy,

1969 911T, 911E and 911S
The starting numbers, # built in ’68, and total production are:
For 911T
119100001 for a Porsche body (ne.Reuter) coupe, 131 in ’68, 343 total.
119120001 for a Karmann body coupe, 1325 in ’68, 3561 total.
119110001 for a Porsche body Targa, 427 in ’68, 1282 total.

For 911E
119200001 Porsche coupe, 456 in ’68, 954 total.
119220001 Karmann coupe, 329 in ’68, 1014 total.
119210001 Porsche Targa, 317 in ’68, 858 total.

For 911S
119300001 Porsche coupe, 586 in ’68, 1492 total.
No Karmann body 911S
119310001 Porsche Targa, 240 in ’68, 614 total.

Total production 10,118. Ref. Spec book 4210.21 IV/73.

Production typically started in September or October, after the summer holidays. I can’t tell you when in late ’68. Porsche was still in somewhat confusion because they had to buy the Reuter factory in late ’63. Here they were tooling up for the second time in just five years (first the 901 then the LWB).

Best,
Grady

I had a car that was long wheelbase but the vin said it was a 68 and the title said 69. It wasn't changed to LWB either. Is that strange?

There have been rumors before about some late 68's being built as LWB... but I can't remember any hard evidence to support this until now. There are some threads in the archives.
