Anyone else reading Total 911?

My wife got me a subscription and I really like this magazine. It has the best balance I have seen between early, mid-year and modern cars. It has cool technical information, as well as obviously being written by true enthusiasts. It's a new magazine, and I just wonder if anyone else is reading it.

Yep. So far so good. Not sure I agree with the "nothing else matters" philosophy, but I like the guys writing it.

Picked up mine yesterday, along with 911 and Porsche World.
Excellence has become more advertisers lately, IMO. I'll still get it but I wish they would have more features.

Never even heard of the magazine. I let my Excellence subscription drop just last month. More advertising than articles.

It's a new mag. Most of the guys writing in it are British 964 owners. They frequent the Rennlist 964 board. Although evidently there was some kind of falling out there recently...not sure of the details...but I think it had something to do with some off-cheek comments about "all other Porsches being inferior to the 911".

british mags are the best

Hands down british car mags are the best in the industry.

Why?
-Much better writing
-much better paper quality
-much better photography
-awesome European backdrops

Total 911 is a nice mag.

I have a $40 month addiction.

My top mags:

- EVO
- GT Purely Porsche
- Octane

At least one of the guys (Raby?) used to be w/ 911 & Porsche. There is a definite similarity in written and graphic style, but maybe even more so to GT Purely Porsche.

Thanks for the positive comments!

As mentioned, we're all Porsche fans and we hope this comes through in the writing. We're a bunch of fans who would like to produce the best Porsche magazine, so we're always open to feedback as to how we can improve. We have deliberately included much more global content than the other mags, because we realise that not all of our readers are in the UK!

We're also frequent forum-visitors, so you'll see us around; and yes, we're still on Rennlist!

oh - and for our Canadian readers, you'll be pleased to know that we've just reduced the price in Canada by $1..it'snot much I know but we got feedback that, with taxes, it was up to CN$18...so we've done what we can.

I discovered your magazine last month - absolutely loved it.
I read Excellence, Porsche World and Total 911 back to back.
Total 911 was definitely my favorite - loved the high quality photos.

Keep up the good work.

Wouldn't an all-911 magazine get a bit boring after awhile? It seems like GT and Excellence are left scrambling for filler, and they deal with all the models.

I prefer EVO. I still pick up Excellence every month, but EVO is the best all-round car magazine out there, IMHO. The American car magazines, unfortunately, cave too much to pressure from sponsors and print favorable reviews of cars that they actually didn't like (I have seen a few former editors of R&T, CaD, and MT all agree on this point).

The falling out happened as a result of the article in which the magazine called the 928 big and lazy. Some of the 928 owners overreacted, but ALL of us were quite offended as it was a highly disrespectful thing to say about a car that is superior to the 911 of its time in every way except popularity. Although I am also an owner and lover of the 911, I find their viewpoint silly and immature. I will not be a reader.

No, what has clearly come through in your writing is that you are 911 FANS , and that the other models are not worth writing about. True Porsche fans embrace all things Porsche.

OK - but we are Porsche fans...we have just chosen a niche for the magazine to allow us to compete in a crowded marketplace. It was a commercial decision mainly.
I definitely would not want anyone to think that I am a 911 snob; I wave to all Porsches (even if not all wave back...).

I really notice the writing. I find US mags are either written to a junior high school reading level, or come across as new car brochures. I used to buy R&T just for Peter Egan, but now I just buy his books.

I usually pick up Classic & Sports Car, and Practical Classics. They are true enthusiast mags. Maybe I'll have to add Total 911 to the list.

I picked up the first copy from B & N when they first came in..... I haven't had the chance to read anything after even though I think I have the 2nd copy sitting around here. From the first copy it was a pretty decent mag. I'm sure Rob has or will look into getting a printer out this way so it could cut down on the subscription cost. I think it's currently cheaper to get them off of the stand.
