curb rash

I just bought a pair of 9" Fuchs that are in good shape except for some curb rash on the outer rims. I've read that Al Reed can repair these, so I've been trying to get a hold of him with no luck so far. If anyone has had curb rash repaired, can you please tell me who did it and give me a ballpark on what it is going to cost. I have some spots that are gouged a couple of mm's, so I think new material needs to be welded on and then sanded/ground down.

Before and after pics would be great if you have them handy. Thanks.

There was an previous posting on how one member fixed his. Had lots of pictures.

You may have to be patient in a "search" for "wheels", or "curb rash", or some other words to bring up the article.

I'd do it for you, but don't have time right now.

my polished wheels took a big beating at a tire installer. I started at 400 w&d etc and then polished them myself with a die grinder using buff pads and Eastwood polishing materials.

I had some 'curb & idiot tire guy rash' on the outer lips of my otherwise perfect Fuchs when I acquired my car. I sanded down the anodized finish (easier said than done), on just the outer 1/2" lip and polished them up so they now look great. It was a major PITA though, and took MANY hours (and LOTS of beer ) however....

I don't have my laptop (with all my pics) with me today, but here is a pic of the whole car I located on an old thread (the pic is a little over halfway down on the 1st page). I'm certainly not a pro, but am overly anal about my car, and if I must say so myself...they look GOOD! But caution...don't start this project unless you have lots of time (and beer), 'cause it's a PITA. I sanded (initally with a hand held sander) with 60, 100, 200, then by hand w/ 600, 1000, then 2000 (wet), and then polished w/ Mother's. Did I say it took lots of beer...being an ECU grad (and noticing your location), I had to mention that....

All else equal, do 25th Anniversary cars command a premium over "regular" 911s?

ps: If you want some closeups of the wheels, I can post them next week.
