Unhappy I need more help ..please!!!

Hello everybody!
Thank you for the prior help so far, but I guess I need to start the whole story!
I had a gas leak on my Carrera '87. Trying to "do it myself" I got the tank out and found to have bad hoses to the tank nipples. Moving the tank up I cracked the 10 piece fuse panel (what started my nightmare) A good amount of wires connected to that fuse popped...to make the long story short I messed up the whole fuse (boxes) sequence.I finally found this great site after spending too much money on a new fuel pump and relay...here the prices and the support is so GREAT!, you got another customer! Some good friends here sent me pics on the luggage compartment fuse boxes, I can use more photos if available....
Trying to summarize the car worked perfectly before the tank leak, now this is the summary : The car has a functional fuel pump, new DME relay and no tank leaks. It has spark. I heard that the pump cannot be heard when cranking the engine, at least that works when the engine is already making noise.
Well... today I noticed jumping the pump that the car starts, but with erratic acceleration...the pump is constantly pumping , since is jumped. When I disconnect the pump from the jumper, the car stalls in 15-20 seconds (I suppose pump do not get any power from the DME circuit. My suspicion is is could be messed up with the car alarm, which I disconnected its power, but there is a couple of wires that are marked as "ignition, and "Battery" and they are not actually connected to the first 3-fuse box. Seems that somehow the pump is "disabled"?? by not having those 2 wires??? I will make an attempt to reconnect those wires. Can somebody help please? Thanks a lot! I'm going through a lot of rookie moments so, forgive my ignorance

Welcome! 1987 is a great year.

In general, alarm systems with ignition/fuel pump cut-off's are always suspect. But the whack into the fuse panel is an added oops.

I'm sure folks with more trouble-shooting knowledge than me will jump and and do their best for you.

Good Luck and keep the faith!

Don

Freddie, I recommend that you get a wiring diagram for the '87 model and rewire to fuse panel to ensure everything is where it needs to be. There are so many possiible scenarios that it is difficult to know the exact problem. Also the erratic engine operations is probably because the DME is either not powered or one or more sensor circuits are out. This would explain the pump not working. Good luck. Paul

Turborat is right, you need to check your wiring against a diagram just to be safe.

Sounds like you may have armed your alarm. If you don't have a key to turn it off or the key won't turn it off check this out...

Oh, a Bentley manual would have the wiring diagrams and is a great tool to have around.

I agree with your statement about attempting to reconnect all the wires. It would be difficult to troubleshoot without everything hooked up properly. How damaged is your 10 fuse panel?

I got a new 10 fuse panel, since it was too cracked.

Ok, i had the same exact problem on my 78sc. Check the wires for the red with a white stripe on mine) fuel/air management on the engine. Im not farmiliar with your year, but i had a little short. It fussed the wires together and I had the same problem. There are three connectors, one on the drivers side, plugged into the vacum thingy( in between the intake). The second was behind the fuel injection. The third was fine. Both of the sets had fussed together( drivers side and in the back). I cut them, put new 10gauge wire, and all the problems were gone. It all started from the pos and neg terminals touching via the tire iron. Anyway good luck, hope it helps
