Capping one side of a B&B muffler

Hey,

I am going to install a B&B muffler (and headers) this weekend. I'm wondering if I can cap off the passenger side. There are two reasons for this:

1. Hopefully it will reduce or eliminate resonation

2. I don't want to cut or remove my rear valence if I can avoid it.

So will this damage the engine? I don't really care about maxing out performance. I'm taking baby steps, so I can always open it later and change the valence. I'm just trying to be minimally invasive to the car at this point.

So does B&B have their exhaust gasses mix, or is it separate compartments for each side? Will half my cylinders be like Rosewood's car with a banana in the tailpipe?

Opinions and thoughts are appreciated.

Yes you can, the 2 outlet is the same as the single, at least it is on my b&b, mine was a single which I changed to dual

Thanks Craig. That corresponds to the view I heard earlier - that on the more recent B&B systems (this is about a year old) they reduced the size of the passenger-side outlet to reduce resonance. If they can reduce it without a noticeable drop in performance, you can cap it, or so the theory goes.

I was speaking to Steve Timmins at instant g, and he was a little more hesitant. He felt that there was some benefit in the gases being allowed to mix (I guess this answers part of my question from before) and said I probably shouldn't cap it, but he wasn't very adamant.

Just looking for some more clarity. Has anyone done this?

Not trying to be rude, but Call B&B. there sales reps are normally very helpful and knowledgable. They can tell you for sure. No guesses go to the source.

I capped the right side on mine to eliminate the resonance between 2-3k rpm. I talked to B&B about the problem and they suggested the modification and said that they didn't notice any difference on their dyno in either configuration.
