Engine to tranny

Hello all,
New member here. I have been reading posts for a while, decided to register to get some help. I am currently restoring a 72' 911s. Finally got the engine and tranny in for the first time and missed the fork to the throwout bearing. Bummer!!!
Second time as the tranny was going on, there was moderate of force needed to get the tranny to the engine. My thoughs were the fork and bearing were binding. Once running, I tried to make it around the block. Started sqealing but would change with clutch pedal movement. By the time I made it home, no clutch action. Dropped the engine and tranny. (can almost do it in my sleep). The throwout bearing was destroyed. I think the fork was bent which caused pressure. Should the tranny and engine go together without much force? I purchased this car in boxes and did not take it apart.

Thanks for your help in advance.
Steve

Get Waynes book 101 projects for your 911, in there it will give you the details on how the clutch should go together. There should not be much force to get the engine and trans lined up

Steve,

Welcome to the Forum, you will find everything you need to know here. We feel your frustration as many have “been there, done that.” Please post some images of your progress (or lack). It should be easy to spot the problem.

You are to be commended for your recovering a very special Porsche. You will find a great amount of help here. Many of us tinkered with your model when new and ever since.

This group seems to be image intensive. Let us know if you need help posting images as we need to see what you are talking about.

Best,
Grady
