Los Angeles Thanksgiving Canyon Run - details
Meet at (or before) 7:30 at the Calabasas Gelson's (22277 Mulholland Highway). We'll leave around 7:45 and take the usual route -- Stunt Road, Piuma etc., then Mulholland past the Rock Store to Decker Canyon. At Decker you can go north to the 101 or south to Malibu, depending on your destination. There won't be a brunch so everyone is free to take care of holiday obligations. I'd guess the drive will be finished before 10 am.
A battered and bruised BB2 will be there. ![]()

I slid into a tire wall at Sears Point. No structural damage, but it's going to need some paint.

Jack,
This is a picture of BB2 not BB1? Those corners seem to have it out for your car..

No, I was fine. By the data logger, the car had slowed down from 110 to about 30 before the final contact with the tires. 'Both feet in' is an effective way to slow down.
The track photographer got a good sequence of shots, which I'll have in a couple of weeks. There are two surprises when you hit a full wall of tires. The first is that you get wet -- the tires hold rainwater. In the confusion of the first couple of seconds after impact, I had to check to confirm that it wasn't blood. The second surprise with this wall was that the tires were strung along cables. After the car came to a rest, the bungee tension of the cables pushed the car back out about four feet. I was back on track after missing one session. All told, I was very lucky.

Sorry to see BB2 in this shape Jack...
How come you're so cool about it? She looks pretty beat up... but am I getting it right that she is still running in a state like that?!? (forgive my ignorance, but I've never been in an accident before - and sure hope it stays that way) Whish I could join for the TG morning run... Have fun guys, Michiel

Jack,
Can you provide a map of this run? I would like to join you guys if I can get my exhaust leak fixed and oil change done tonight! Nevermind, I just plugged in the address noted above. It says to take CA-27 South exit onto Topanga Canyou Blvd. Is this correct? Thanks,

We'll be meeting in the parking lot of the Calabasas Gelsons.
![]() Take the Topanga/Ca-27 exit from the 101. Go south to Mulholland Dr. Take a right, and proceed to the light for Mulholland Highway. Take a left. The Gelson's is up on the right, at 22277 Mulholland Highway. Here's the basic route, although we'll head end it at Decker, so people can either go right to the 101 or left to Malibu. (Thanks to RandyF, who made the map.) ![]() • Mulholland Hwy south 4 miles to Stunt Rd. • Left onto Stunt Rd, to where it ends at Schueren Rd (aka Saddle Peak). • Right on Schueren Rd to Piuma Rd. • Right on Piuma Rd to Las Virgenes (aka Malibu Cyn). • Right on Las Virgenes to Mulholland Hwy. • Left on Mulholland Hwy, past Kanan Rd. to Decker Canyon. • Home to turkey, football and family fisticuffs.

Jack, great organizing on this event.
I am a new Porsche owner and will be joining as well. Do you have a total count of cars that will be participating?? Thanks, ![]()

No go for me
![]() Tranny rebuild is completed, but just not enough time to put it, new clutch, new oil cooler all back together... Not sure it will even get done before Sunday's SOCG Run ![]() I feel the need for a fun run soon, so the Post Triptophan 12/3 Run is going to have to suffice....

Jack, glad you were ok. Just saw the pic. Hopefully she will back together soon enough. Are you running without a decklid now or do you have a temporary one on there?

Great run this morning! The weather was PERFECT for a drive, and the scenery spectacular (Mountains, Oceans, and Porsches!).
Let's do it again in a month!
