it was going so smooth!
Hi Guys,my first real attempt at trying to be a wrench,I am taking the strut assemblies, hub ,rotors and calipers of a parts car,the first one came off no problem, just a little time to figure things out and then on to the left side there were no problems at all until the bottom pin,the nut came off no problem but in trying to tap it out I bent it and it will not budge now.the pin is for sure pooched but how do I get it out without causing any more damage?please help,Marty

Marty, put the nut back on the threaded end of the pin and use a BFH to pound it loose. Then use a punch (carefully) if necessary to press it the rest of the way out. I had to do this with two of them in the past. Good luck!

i also used a torch to heat the surrounding metal of the strut (not the pin) to give it some room to breath.

If you are talking about the wedge pin ... as Michael said, put a pair of sacrificial M8 nuts back on the thread and try to bend the threaded shank back straight. Then use a large C-clamp to press out the pin ... with a socket or large nut over the large end of the wedge pin so it can move out freely.

I just did this today. I used a BFH! and still didnt get it out. So I used the torch and heated the arm and with a bearing puller....I got it after I hit it again with a BIG F* HAMMER!....
I also love how Wayne says in his book "Then simply unscrew the tie rod from the steering rack" ...... ITS NOT EASY....AND DEFINITALY NOT SIMPLE I guess tomorrow I will do the other one.

Finished my second one today. Believe it or not I found the most useful tool in this whole process was a plummers wrench. The 8 to 10 model. I could not get turns on the tie rod with my Ford wrench or other tools, but he plummers wrench with its teeth allowed me to grip the rod and turn it and get it tight. You can also use it on taking the old tie rod loose. Those gripping teeth are great. Thank God I dont have to do that job any more. Chris
