Weight of 3.0 engine & trans on pallet

Can anyone who has shipped an engine recently tell me the weight of a 3.0 long block & trans on a pallet?

And perhaps suggest the cheapest way to ship from TX to CA.

THANKS!

I shipped a 3.0 complete with injection and exhaust from Las vegas to Oregon recently...weight was around 600 lbs in a hefty plywood crate. Cost was about $200 through an outfit called Freightquote.com...find them on the web, highly recommended...ask for Casey.

Engine is a bit over 400 lbs: maybe 420; 430? SC trans should be about 135 lbs. You definitely want to protect the top of the engine with 40 lb or so of wooden crate.

forwar air did it for me and it cost about 125 for just the engine(maybe less I forget) but they dropped it off at the airport depot and I picked it up at the airport depot. Worked out well.

I've also used Forward Air for big stuff. It's depot to depot, but they're good.

I've also used Orbit Freight and it was a nighmare.
