Help: rear deck lid won't open.

any input would be appreciate.

Let me go slow so you can help me to do some problem solving.

First, everytime I try to see the engine bay, I have to pull the cable and ask someone to lift the deck lid. I thought it was the shock. Shock replaced, no help. Well, it help on keeping the lid stay up but won' pop the lid when I pull the cable.

So I thought the big pin (lock) with the biggo spring is the problem and I still think it is. So today, I play with it. What I did was adjusting the spring, compressing it a little to make the stronger, hopefully it will push the lid up when I pull the cable.
After i adjusted it, I don't tight it in hard because maybe I still have to adjust it more. Shut the lid, it won't open and it likes to stay locked no matter what I do.
I took off all the tail light with thehope that I can find something or some ways to access to the inside, no solution. Untill it dark, still no solution. I give up.

a friend told me there should be a string in the left tail light to manually pull it open in case of emergency. I took off both sides and well, it's not there.

Anyone has a trick to open this lid?

Thanks.

What you did by tightening the spring, is set the pin so the hood stays closed tighter. Also, by leaving the parts on the "loose" side, the pin has probably moved to the worst position, requiring the maximum cable retraction.
I would try feeding a stiff wire, or slimjim up under the hood, and pressing the pin toward the passenger side, while someone pulls the cable.
Some downward pressure on the lid while pulling the cable should help. Good luck!

I did pressing down the lid while someone pulling the cable, many times.

Your thought about me making the pin stay loose, moving "free", and stuck is what I am thinking of now. And I am so scared that I have to cut the lid off. Outch. No, I don't want to think about it.

Please explain to me why do you think pressing toward the paseenger.Reason why I want to hear explanation is because maybe I can do better when I understand your thought. Also maybe I can think of something else.

Also what do you mean by "feeding a stiff wire"?

Thanks.
