As I was thumbing over the pages of my latest excellence I read up on the cover article. It was a review and test of Porsche's new 911S in its new X51 power option, a bit of kit that adds the neat amount of 26hp to the allready fast S. Its not really the power that has me a tingle, its the scary resemblance to the current GT3s power level. (Yes I do know that the engine design differs quite a bit between the two cars but bear with me)
I am a hardcore enthusiast, I like the track and anything about it. My personal SC is a stripped down version of its stock self, embodying (IMO) some of the same aspects that the GT3 does. So, as you probably figure, the current 911 GT3 is my favorite car, period. And to think that the current 911S with the X51 option creates more power and could, pretty much, give a GT3 a run for its money makes me very VERY excited to see what the next interpretation has up its sleeve. And with the technology Porsche consistently rolls into their production models (example: the variable turbocharger equipped on the soon to be released Turbo) and the technology they put into the last GT3, we should be in store for one hell of a car. Which brings me full circle to my point, if the new 911 Carrera S is as good as it is with the Powerkit, just think how mean the new GT3 is going to be. Please if you have information and pictures I would love to see them. I just thought I was go out and share some of my excitement for the cars release, I know I will be waiting anxiously.

I hope its true.
From what I hear on other sites following the GT3's developement it sounds like the new 997 GT3 will have similar power as the 996 GT3 . I hope there wrong. One thing I hope to see put into production is the new sequential gear box to rival the Ferrari F1 shifter. |

This last Wednesday, a bunch of us Los Angeles Pelicanites were at the track and there was a guy testing his new (and very rare in the U.S.) 997 GT3 Cup car. If you like the new S version of the 997, then this is the car you'd absolutely love. I haven't read the exact weight, but a safe guess is 4-500 pounds lighter than the stock GT3.
Beautiful car.

For me it wasnt really the power, it was the numbers. They need to make a reason why you purchase a GT3 over a similarly fast S, and it cant just be because the GT3 has a rougher ride.
![]() Jack, I did catch an article in EVO on that car. It is everything I want and then some. They were saying in the text that the new GT3 would share a LOT of things from the cup car. That I hope is really true. I wish I could have seen it in person.

I never have understood basing a car's value on magazine numbers.
The GT 3 is a race car. The 997S is still a street car. There are different criteria, like finishing a 24 hour endurance race, etc. The GT 3 motor is geared towrds this end. Longevity at 8300 rpm, (higher on the Cup versions) and a torque curve that favors racing. Although I agree that it bodes very well for what the GT 3 version of the 997 must be like. Very encouraging, and much needed looking at what the Z06 and new Viper GTS are doing.

I cant watch it at work...well I can with no sound...and with a dyno run thats just about as good as dry humping to a pornstar. BTW you wanna talk about a state of mind?! Ask someone, im in so deep its discusting - you cant even take me out in public anymore with me going off on how it should be track season again.

one more just to seal the WIN.. back a year ago when he just got it...
I am sure we'll meet again..... and the out come will be the same. but really.. to get back OT. I really thinkh I like the 996 GT3 better until I see the street version of the 997 GT3.. but the 997 CUP is indeed a damn good looking car.

Does the new GT3 have a dry sump motor (as the 2005 had) or does it have the new "integrated dry sump" that my 997S had?
