I almost bought those last week from our host. They are supposed to be the best. But after reading much old threads, I went ahead (at the last minute) and bought the "sports mounts".

If u race and/or $$ is no object, go ahead.

I installed one to replace my 3 year old sports mount. I can't honestly say I feel much difference. Shifting while the car is not 100% straight seems to havr improved just a tad but then I have also rebuilt the transmission.

I've talked to guys who use them, and it looks like they're a great solution for a specific application. If you need something between a solid mount and the club sport mounts, the Wevos are the way to go. I've got them on my wish list, but haven't bought a set yet.

Motor mounts aren't going to have a dramatic effect on normal street driving, aside from some increased noise. But they make a big difference with shifting precision (and even throttle response) in track use or other very demanding driving situations.

Are Genuine Porsche sport motor mounts way better than the Meistersatz brand? The Genuine Porsche part is double the cost of the aftermarket one but is it twice as better?

I have them in my car. I started out with sport mounts and went to solids. The solids were pretty harsh in terms of noise. I put the WEVO ones in and they are not as harsh and I noticed no difference in shifting etc conpared to the solid mounts. Good product.

Cheers

I put set of them on my '70 E and aside from looking GREAT, I don't notice ANY more road noise than before (I don't have sound deadening either). It does "seem" to shift more positively, but with a 901 tranny, that's probably just my hoping & fantasizing that it's more precise. Fitment was right on ! I plan to buy the WEVO 901 tranny mount (hopefully soon) to match. I predict that I will notice better shifting with that in place, moreso than just with the engine mounts alone.

I was just wondering the same thing.

I've used Meistersatz parts many times over the years with VW's. I can't recall anything negative about them.

I ordered the Meistersatz sport mounts today to save a few dollars. Of course I would love to get WEVO's but the price didn't sit too good with me.

Anyway with the money I saved for going with Meistersatz vs. Genuine Porsche I was able to get a Gate Shift too.

I think I did the right thing

I like the WEVO mounts - nice combo of less vibration than solids (less noise as well as less vibrations felt through the seat) and same shifting precision. Noticably more rigid than sports (with no downside).

I put factory sport mounts on my car. One of the best mods I've made. And at the relatively low price, it is certainly the best bang for the buck out there, in terms of mods.

I have both engine and transmission mounts. Helps keep everything lined up properly and shifting is less vague. I suspect it will be most noticable on track when the drivetrain is HOT and the normal rubber distorts more.

There is a noticable increase in transmission noise.

I am running these and I like them a lot. I kept the stock tranny mounts to avoid having something "too rough". I highly recommend these.

Thanks guys ! this is why I love this place.... fantastic input.
Now, I have a question brought up by James (mjshira)
can you have the Wevo's on the motor and the aftermarker
sport mounts on the tranny ? that is what I am understanding
from what James is saying above. Is a combination of Wevo's
and either the regular factory or the aftermarket
Meistersatz sport mounts on the tranny good/better/best
for mostly street with some DE track time.
Thanks again !!
Chuck

I've seen some reasonably priced SOLID motor mounts that have tempted me but I worry, will the vibration just transfer to the engine in places and lead to cracks? In other words, does the softer material in the non-solid mounts serve to absorb crack creating vibrations?

Anyone with true solid mounts see any structural problems?

Chuck,
I was also wondering about a combo of solid and soft mounts. Could you put solids on the trany and soft of the motor to improve shifting and have a happy medium of added noise?
