2 Questions
#1. This is an esthetics question. I'm a new P-car owner, '74 911. Previous owner installed a "911SC" emblem on the engine lid and painted all the chrome glass and door trim satin black. Is this a major faux pas or acceptable, I don't want to be taken out to the woodshed when I go to my first P-car gathering. #2. There is some rust on the forward suspension pan forward of where the control arms bolt up. It seems that it's only a small area, is it ok to just cut out the affected area and piece in a replacement or better to replace the whole suspension pan? Also if I take it to a shop, as has been suggested what is a reasonable fee for the repair? Thanks.

The 911SC emblem is a minor faux pas, and the black out treatment is OK.

Get rid of the SC emblem, be proud of owning a mid-year 911. Is the pan rusted through or just surface rust? If it is only a small area no problem just cutting out the are and welding in some heavy gauge metal. Shop would probably charge a few hundred dollars.

I echo the emblem thing but omn the rest, whatever you like is OK. Mine doesn't look like an SC anymore but it still proudly wears its badge !
Just enjoy it !!!!
