Paul and Steve will do a great job. I've been working with Paul for almost two years and Steve just signed on also as one of our dealers. We've made quite a few of our Nickies cut for the cmw sealing ring which has shown itself quite resilient. I personally like the cmw ring because it biases towards the inside of the bore and rather than having a groove, it has a ledge, so you don't split up the sealing deck with a notch in the middle. It leaves more meat on the o.d. at the thinnest spot when you get to the really big bores. We've been doing cylinders custom for CMW for over two years now, and it looks like you have one of our latest revisions- all together you will have one hell of an engine (and car). Please post pics as it goes together :-) Good luck!

Looks like a great project and Steve is going to have lots of fun putting this engine together and getting it tuned. I'm nearby and may pop over to take a look at it before it gets buttoned up

This is going to be one of the best cars on the board. The anticipation must be killing you!
My own anticipation is very high, so I could empathize!

Will they tune the motor out of the car? On some sort of motor dyno?

They will do the initial tuning on the dyno...

Then I am going to drive my car up and we'll do a the swap. Steve is going to take my 3.6 out, install the 3.9 and do the in-car tuning.

I originally thought I'd have the motor shipped down.. But it just makes sense for him to install it on my car.

Steve is building a similar motor for himself (more aggressive cams and different ECU). I bet he'll have fun!

I wish I had more spare time, but I have to work to pay for all this stuff

Very nice project. The only thing that would get me slightly is the pre-galvanised tub. You better be on the lookout for the tinworm...

Little update...

The transmission (G50/31) is on its way from Germany and should be here at the end of next week...

In the meantime I just received the tail form Getty...

The build quality is impressive... Hopefully the fit will be as good...

The car you are building, Matteo, well it is the Porsche equivalent of the second coming of Christ.

Little update

The cutting has begun....

The flares from the old tub have been cut and will be welded on the 74 one (it has "steel" slantnose flares with brake cooling ducts.... Maybe I should have kept them and put a metallic mesh on it... oh well )

Most of the stuff from Smart Racing Products has arrived so Keith and Aaron are getting ready to weld in the shock towers (with camber plates).

But the real fun stuff is...

The G50/31 transmission had just arrived from Germany....

New from Porsche Motorsports....

It's now up to Keith and Aaron to try and fit the 6-speed into the 74 tub!!!

Thanks for keeping us up to date! VERY, very cool!
WOW - what is that steel tubing bridge? A jig for welding in the camber plates? Holy smokes, that's a serious apparatus. Did they make that at their shop OR buy it?
