One of them day's - Repair or Replace ?
 

Well fellow P-can's it was " one of those day's ".

I parked my car in a spot big enough for a semi to park in, then proceeded to earn my day's wage little as it may be....lol

At appx 9:30 I went out to the parking area to retrieve something from my car and low and behold a kindly native had decorated my front bumper for me,,,

It appears that something roughly the size of a " reese " hitch without the ball attachment pushed into my bumper, this is the only damage that I have noted,

Have already lined up a repairman who is treating me more than fairly but thought I would seek advice on this repair, should I let him just repair the fiberglass and prime/paint and buff to match or should I purchase a whole new bumper cover, and if so, who has the bestest deals...haha.

if its fiberglass...repair and paint. ive toasted a couple of Jetskis and glassed them backup no problem. If you get a good body guy, he should be able get it back to original shape without a hitch. (no pun intended ;) )

Given that the impact was isolated to such a small area, if the rest of the bumper is undamaged, I would patch it and repaint.

That suchs... Do a patch. Damn, the're out there.....

Thanks for the word's , got a body guy that works for the city that is going to do it for me at his house, for $100 plus materials.

I have to take the bumper cover off and take it to him , seems like a fair deal to me so guess I will do that.

Patch it.....

My ride has a temblor switch with a beeper. Someone smacks, tries to get in it I get an alert.......it even has a "radar" when the top is down and someone reaches inside.

I rarely use it except when I'm in a strange lot...the PO put it in.

Its a minor crack, as others said patch it, sand, and paint. The money you would spend for a new bumper can be used for other upgrades on the p-car.

After about seven weeks finally got my car back together again, the part got " hung " up at the body shop but they did a really good job fixing the front cover.

A while back I got rear-ended in my truck. Just happened to have the ball in the reciever from towing the day before.

Old beater motor home couldn't stop in time, and got a 2"ball-sized hole in his front bumper.

Glad I wasn't driving the 911.

Now you know what those corvette guys go through all the time!!!!!

Looks very good Todd. Picking the "silver lining" in this freakin rain cloud, it gave you a chance to clean up the front end from small rock chips.

There is a particulalry hot little corner of hell waiting for people who damge a man's car and don't own up to it. Accidents are one thing, slinking off without making a sound like a cockroach is quite another.

You are absolutely right about the rock chips, funny I never noticed how bad there were until I got the bumper cover back and compared photos of the before and after.

Other than a serious coat of wax is there any other way to prevent these from happening again without going to a " bra "?

Finally got around to taking a pic in the sunlight of my front end repair, it actually matches fairly well I think :)

What do you think about having the whole hood repainted the same way to get rid of the rock chips ???

I think that the cop has caught a really nce looking car. The aftermarket bumpers (and the new paintjob) look great!

Todd, You can protect that new front end with the clear mask bra stuff. Do a search and you'll find plenty of info about it. I think it'd be a great idea to have the hood reshot to get rid of the rock chips....but then DEFINITELY do the clear plastic stuff, otherwise why bother?

that's the kind of bumper that is perfect for a clear film.

do a search on this site using "xpel" for a lot of info.
