Folks:
The Search mechanism is not bringing up our old posts concerning the early SCs ('78) and the different threaded/pitch pinion used on the end of the distributor. I am a bit hazy on this and wanted to pass the information on. So does anyone know the specifics of this "problem" and what eng # the newer pinion superceded the older one? I suppose a visual inspection is the only sure fire way to know. You sure don't want to shear this item; '78 SC owners ought to be aware of this. Jw |

SC distributors turn backward from earlier distributors. So the pinion gear is also "backward".

Yes, that's true. I am trying to confirm the pitch difference on the pinion gear, not its direction. That is, that the early '78s had a different pinion to crankshaft and thus you need to be very careful to have the two changed in pairs.
Question remains what engine number, dist. part number, etc. is involved here. Jw |
