TDC in 89 Carrera 3.2 help please

Could someone verifiy the correct markings for TDC on an 89 Carrera 3.2 motor?

My crankshaft pulley doesn't look like the one in Wayne's book and there is no Z1 as far as I can tell on the crankshaft pulley.

From a picture in the Bentley manual it looks like when the 2 holes in the C/S pulley are vertical and the left notch of the 2 notches about 1 in apart on the C/S pulley is lined up with the notch in the fan housing is TDC.

Is that the correct alignment for TDC?

The distributor is removed so I can't use that as a reference point.

Another issue but I replaced the distributor O-ring with one purchased from Performance Products and the distributor would not go back into the case. The O-ring was preventing it from going in all the way. Any thoughts?

There are four marks on your pulley, three are 120 degrees apart, and the fourth one is real close to one of the 3 to make a close pair. TDC of 1 (or 4) is when the left of the close pair is at the top. Since your dizzy is out, the only way to find out is to remove the valve cover on 1-2-3, and wiggle the 1st rocker arm. If it wiggle at all, then 1 is at top dead center, if not, then 4 is tdc. (sounds like you got it right)

THe oring should not be the round type but the square type across the cut section. And it should take some effort to push it in after you grease it with moly-grease. But it should be possible. If it itakes too much and still does not go in, then get one from the factory. That is a guarrantee fit.

Thanks. That's definitely where the pulley is sitting right now. I guess I just have to determine if I've got it at #1 or #4.
