Brey Krause Fire Ext. Mount

Ok, i have the Brey K. mount for a standard seat.

I realize the BK bar mounts between the two seat bolts.

How does the Fire Ext. mount? Do i need to purchase a 2 strap?

What is the least weight that can be mounted on the BK mount?

I believe 2.5 is the max.

Any help with pictures would be great.

thanks

jpc

I have the BK mount for my SC. The mounts are a little different for a Carrera but I think the is mounting is the same. I have 5lb FE and I'm sure you could go smaller. The mount has straps incorporated into it so you just strap the FE to it and you're good to go.

Sorry, I just realized I gave you the wrong info. I Think the FE mount came with the FE.Go to a place that specializes in Fire Ext. equipment. It bolts right up to the BK holes.

Bought mine (BK FE mount) a number of years ago, at that time the strap was what came with the FE.

Here's a link to an S registry thread that also talks about the mount & other options. I bought a halon extinguisher, still mulling over how I wish to mount it.

The various BK options are by far the cleanest, least hacked up solution in my opinion. Two frame rail bolts and you're done. Unless you're transporting circus midgets up front, leg clearance isn't an issue as it sits below the passenger's knees.

As noted above, most new bottles come supplied with a strapped bracket:

Additionally, BK now also makes a billet, one handle release:

Good luck,
Tim

I highly recommend the Halon extinguisher for yourself as well as the owner of the car that you extinguish the fire in. The BK extinguisher bracket is nice however the bracket that comes with the extinguisher works equally as well. I've rubberbanded the safety pin loop to keep the pin from inadvertendly pulling out and discharging, so it requires more of a deliberate tug on it to disengage it.
