difference in shifter & linkage '74 - '78
Is there a difference in the shifter & linkage between a '74 w/ 915 7:31 and a '78 w/915 8:31. I was thinking the '74 was a short shift and the '78 had a longer throw but was not sure.

Stephen,
The lever changed in 1975, the shift lever mount changed in 1976 along with the pin that passes through it and the carrier plate changed in 1978. I seem to recall the change in the lever was to the shape of the bend but I can't recall for sure. The rest of the changes were minor and intended to improve the quality of the shift. I would think either shifter would work in either car. There were no changes to the external linkage during those years. JR
