Is this an upgraded oil cooler on a 1985 3.2?
I don't think this is the original. Am I right? Does anybody know what kind it is and/or about how much they cost?

That's just your standard OEM cooler - installed on the car on the production line.

What you are looking at is not actually the cooler, but rather the stone shield protecting the cooler

Hello, whats the easiest and cheapest way to install a fan on a pre 87 911 that has this cooler but not the fan

I got a SPAL fan (for reliability) with a temp sensor and a relay.
As I recall, the SPAL fan was only able to use three of the four mounting holes onto the framing of the oil cooler. A better way to go will be to find a factory fan. But I don't think many people will be willing to part with their fan unless they sell the cooler too. Good luck.

Did you factory cooler already have a port for a temp sensor, or is the temp sensor external? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, but I could not see any ports on my cooler for a sensor

Coolers that were not originally equipped with a fan won't have a provision for a temperature switch. That came with the '87 model year. Just run the fan using a manual switch and a relay. Much better, in that you can run the fan whenever you want. The factory temperature switch turned tha fan on at too high a temperature to do much good.

I am using a Hayden temperature sensor. This sensor is adjustable from 80 degrees to 250 degress F.
I have it set around 210. It has a probe that goes into the fins of the cooler and closes a circuit at different temperatures. It runs around $23 at your favorite autoparts store. Some carry them in stock.
