I know there are people who use them to adjust valve clearances, but the intended purpose of P207 is to check cam timing by mounting a dial indicator to the spring retainer with at least 0.5" of preload at TDC on the firing stroke, then turn the engine over to TDC overlap on the exhaust stroke. The measured lift value at overlap is then compared to the spec book or cam grinders spec.
