77 930 euro exhaust vs us

I bought an oem 'euro' exhaust at a swap meet to get rid of my thermal reactors. When I look at the 2 assemblies side by side ( original is still on the car), they look a lot different.

Anyone know what the brass canister that runs from the left side heat exchange bung hole towards the front of the motor is? (US version)

Does system offer less back pressure with the 3" inlet vs the 2 into 1 y joint on the original?

Does the forced hot air (for heat) match up from the top side of the motor?
thanks

Bill K

the brass (?) canister thingee is, in fact, the EGR filter. Can I run okay without that?
thanks

The Euro system is not only vastly superior to the US but is manditory if any mods done to the engine are to be effective.
If you do not need the smog stuff you can ditch the entire US exhaust including the air pump and spider. You'll need a Carrera style oil line and maybe a bit of hot air hose rennovation and you're in business.

thanks rarly. pardon my ignorance, but what's the spider?

Yes I am smog exempt in NJ, and air pump is gone.

Also, what is Carrera style oil line? I though I would have had one already, the car being Carerra family.

Spider is the air injection lines that go to each cylinder under the engine.
Carrera oil line is used due to the similarity in the heat exchanger configurations of the Carrera and 930 Euro. The US line will hit the Euro exchangers. I have some pictures on another computer. I'll try to post them for you.

can you id the oil line I will be needing?
I'm guessing the crossing one by the muffler.
Happen to have a pn? Will I also need any of the flex lines?
thanks
