What color would you paint the RSR+?

Vote for the color you think would look best on the RSR+.
The previous RSR+ vs 993 poll has me curious how it might look painted on the street w/o lettering.

It has black window trim.
For street it could have a duck tail and a second hood with the black Cibie lights.
Car sees 85% track and 15% street use.
Vote or offer other colors.

Now...

Here are 3 colors possibilities.
Anyone able to photo shop these colors onto the primered beast?

Sunoco Blue, solid blue no yellow.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1138126754.jpg

Vintage gold.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1138127123.jpg

White again maybe just with the stripes.

Craig 930 RS 01-24-2006 10:09 AM

That format = white or black.
For the Love of God, no gold. Even blue would be funky.

Jim Richards 01-24-2006 10:11 AM

Paint if something funky.

Craig 930 RS 01-24-2006 10:13 AM

Flat charcoal black

aigel 01-24-2006 10:14 AM

Why only three choices? Viper green? Tangerine? Gulf blue / orange? Where are all the "real" 70s colors?

For lack of other cool colors, I voted "other".

George

wholberg 01-24-2006 10:14 AM

Speed yellow or Viper green, or maybe Mexico blue

aigel 01-24-2006 10:21 AM

I wanted to voice my opinion on WHITE again. Can you say BOOOORING!? Delivery vans and the exterminator truck are white, not race cars! :D

George

Noah930 01-24-2006 10:22 AM

I've been thinking of picking up a project car to do, and my current list of favorite colors: Mexico blue, Gulf orange, Viper green, and some sort of flat silver. You've got a long-hood, so go with one of those colors we hardly see anymore.

911teo 01-24-2006 10:24 AM

Mexico Blue is taken! sorry :p

I like these other ones...

sp441 01-24-2006 10:26 AM

I say signal yellow or orange. But not white.

Briana 01-24-2006 10:29 AM

Tangerine!

ozz 01-24-2006 10:31 AM

George - I take exception to your thoughts on white!! This aint no stinkin' delivery van!! Ok, maybe I'm a little partial to white :)

Jays72T 01-24-2006 10:32 AM

Sunoco Blue

Craig 930 RS 01-24-2006 10:36 AM

Intense, vivid green

911teo 01-24-2006 10:39 AM

Craig, like this?

or this?

YTNUKLR 01-24-2006 10:49 AM

Lilac purple ('73)? I'm not sure if that is the right name, but it looks like this:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1138132134.jpg

Personally, I think this color would look incredible on your RSR+...:p

IROC 01-24-2006 10:51 AM

It's gotta be something different. This is a unique car - it has to have a unique color. Maybe Olive Drab like Ruf's "NATO Porsche"?

Of course, I've always been partial to Continental Orange...

True, while delivery vans are white, it does not mean that white vehicles are therefore delivery vans. :D That's a nice car. Would even be nicer if ... ;)

Mothy 01-24-2006 10:57 AM

How about leaving the Dalmatian Racing Undercoat. Its unique - no one else will have it. :-)

DW SD 01-24-2006 11:05 AM

Gold would be my least favorite, but I'd still ride with you anytime!

Check out this thread for some more ideas:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/261438-can-someone-photshop-me-color-change.html

I'd say why remain conservative?? Go for it! This blue / violet looks pretty cool! The other jelly bean colors are in the above thread.

White is simple and nice, but why not make it WILD? If you are sticking with the widebody RSR theme, may as well make the color period correct, too.

Here's an interesting sample:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1138132995.jpg

kucharskimb 01-24-2006 11:22 AM

you don't want the guy driving his bentley to look in his rear view mirror and think, "ho, hum, another one of those porsches..."

you want him to scream in a shrill voice, "WTF is that on my ass?!!" as he drives into the median on the 5.

color should be bright, bright, BRIGHT!! viper green or orange...

say hello to jae.

etc....

Wow. I love those.

Curious: are those all shots of the same car with different paint, or is that a team with nearly identical builds, or a club, or...? More info please! I love those colors, and the builds.

911teo 01-24-2006 11:33 AM

nope those are pics of the original IROC race... different cars and different drivers... check this link for more infos....

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/show...threadid=261438

I'll fish out another link...

911teo 01-24-2006 11:36 AM

There are some more info about the IROC 911s here

http://www.mlodeent.com/IROC/iroc.htm

crater64 01-24-2006 11:49 AM

Short list: Mexico Blue, Pastel Blue, Signal Yellow, Conda Green.

klaucke 01-24-2006 01:31 PM

Martini livery is at home on an RSR. Olive would be cool too!

JBO 01-24-2006 01:39 PM

...without a doubt, Sepia Brown :)

beamonk 01-24-2006 02:03 PM

light yellow

pieterk 01-24-2006 02:55 PM

Great links 911teo; thank you.

Wow. So THOSE are the original IROC cars.

I feel like such a noob.

Those colors are so beautiful and the lines on those cars perfect.

Lukesportsman 01-24-2006 02:56 PM

Sunoco is fine, Shell is great, Martni is also good, but I love the Jagermeister cars.

Ted, I always liked your car before...so I might revise that theme. Its funny how your car has gotten wilder and now you want a street paint job. Please.....no gold unless you put a flaming bird on the hood. Call it Trans Am instead of IROC :=

mjshira 01-24-2006 03:45 PM

followed your car a lot, my view is that you need something basic, you might be on to it with a white base, but with such a unique body and mods that you have my view is that you'll need a paint scheme that ties it all together. I'd second Craig's point.

gulf911 01-24-2006 04:19 PM

Paint it tinky winky purple for all I care...just keep it out of AM class!!! :p

mmastro 01-24-2006 04:20 PM

I vote Blood Orange.

Careful you'll temper my gold intentions. ;)

The interior will be a no glare satin black, like the window trim.

To me the wild colors are at home on the track.
It's cool when I can see my buddies Kawasaki green RSR anywhere on the track.

Yes the early 911 M&M colors would seem appropriate for a long hood car.
Already a bunch of Red, orange and yellow 911s.
I understand the earth tones but not an olive or brown guy.

A lot of nice blues.
Too dark a blue blends with all the black trim and interior.
A lighter blue would help the black contrast.

Metallic might be tough to match.
How about a vintage silver/blue like Chuck Miller's?
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1138152999.jpg

Gulf911 I did have an AM magnet on it at the TT.;)
Grosskemper asked me what class I was in?
I said "AM, I thought you (Steve) would be the last person to complain about that".
He replied "AM is OK with me".;)
It is AR1, so is Roland.:)

JeremyD 01-24-2006 05:45 PM

your car is made for this!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1138157045.jpg
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1138157097.jpg

mjshira 01-24-2006 05:46 PM

I agree! that paint is KOOL!!

911teo 01-24-2006 05:49 PM

I think this settles it.... The Martini livery is a MUST!

Craig 930 RS 01-24-2006 05:51 PM

YES!

VFR750 01-24-2006 05:58 PM

With "OTHER" winning the poll, something must be done to help.

What about an "ART" car. There were may bold designs in the 70's for the racing Porsches.

Or maybe cut loose and commision a graphic designer/artist to make you a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Give the person some requirement/guidelines (i.e. G rated for public viewing)

Because we'll all give you our preference, which won't help you.

When the time comes, mine will be BRIGHT yellow, with large diagonal stripes. Orange, Red, Black. The front of the car will be Black, with a wide red stripe, followed by a narrower orange stripe, and the remainder of the car yellow. White graphics will cut across the colors. Kind of like a reverse flame job, without the flames. :-)

Yellow is cool.
