You are gonna Kill me for this one!!!History Lesson
I am very confused although I have read a lot of Books , Magazines and Literature about the Porsche Family I am still confused about the 3 different Names & accomplishments : (Extract from the PCNA Web) :
Creator of the VW Bug and Porsche Brand : "Design engineer Professor Dr. Ing. h.c. Ferdinand Porsche, the third of five children, was born in Maffersdorf (now: Vratislavice/Czech Republic) on 3rd September 1875. At the age of 75 Professor Dr. Ing. h.c. Ferdinand Porsche died 1951 in Stuttgart. He was the creator of the 356 among other things: Ferdinand (Ferry) Anton Ernst Porsche, the second child of Ferdinand and Aloisia Porsche, was born on 19 September 1909 in Wiener Neustadt. His sister Louise (1904-1999) was already five years of age. At the time of his birth, his father was employed as a Technical Manager at Austro-Daimler in Wiener Neustadt Professor Ferdinand "Ferry" Porsche, who died on 27 March 1998 at the age of 88. He was the creator of the 356 among other things . Then I have Ferdinand Alexander Porsche the creator of the 911 and according to a German Magazine @ 2003 he is still living in Europe .Am I correct ? I think the issue is that both 3 started with the Ferdinand name. JL Garcia 912, 1968 Toluca , Mexico.

Ferdinand and Ferry were both engineers., and are father and son. Ferdinand Alexander (aka Butzi) is an industrial designer, and is Ferry's son. He designed the 911, 904 and many consumer items.

Then there is Ferd. Piech... Who is the son of Louise Porsche, so Ferry Porsche is his uncle and Butzi his nephew

Butzi "is" Porsche Design as in 911, 904, sunglasses, fixtures, radios, ......................... and I believe a lot of the "Tequipment" stuff.

Google scanned "Porsche 911" by Patrick C Paternie. Here's a pertinent page. Sorry it's so small.

At least three Porsche family members are on the Board...at least according to this months Excellence ....some kind of "Supervisory Board"....they all have a hard on for the current Chairman....thus the current 20% stake in the company.

The Porsche Ferdinand (later called the "Elefant") was a disaster; it was underpowered and the suspension was overloaded (cross-country speed was only 6 to 9 mph), the first production run lacked close in weapons (machine guns) so Russian infantry were able to readily approach it and attack it's weak spots: tracks and road wheels, track electric drive motors, ventilator slit's, etc. The Porsche fetish for electric drive came at a time when the German war economy was very short of copper. I've read a quote that went approximately like this: "Letting Porsche make armored fighting vehicles was like letting toy makers loose in a weapons forge". However WWI Porsche military design's were more successful; look up the 305 mm Austrian mortar. Cheers, Jim

also... I read somewhere that they parked them along the coast and used them as (semi-) fixed gun emplacements.
