Wipers start when I hit a solid bump?

When my 75 Carrera encounters a stiff bump sometimes the windsheild wipers will start up as a direct restult of the jolt. Is there a easy remmedy for this without taking the whole assembly apart? Its not a serious or even frequent problem but it is annoying...

Mine used to come on with the squirter shooting in a hard turn. Nothing like a high speed DE corner needing full concentration and having the wipers and washer come on mid turn. Anyway, I replaced the wiper switch with a new one. Problem solved. There is probably a short in the switch causing this. You might get lucky and be able to fix it, but it still will need to be disassembled. I would suggest you just put in a new one. It is a relatively easy job.

Yep, it's a switch problem. I believe same basic problem as the common issue with headlight switches.

Is the switch difficult to get to and repair or replace? I can sure see where a switch would be worn after 31 years of loyal service!

Actually it is pretty simple. On my car (86) there is a plastic cover housing the windshield washer arm on one side and the blinker arm on the other. Remove the cowl, undo a couple of screws, unplug the wire harness under the dash, slip it out. Do the reverse for install. Very straight forward.

My 75 carrera did the same thing, I could not find the the org.74-75 switch with the older lettering, so, when I replaced mine I went with the later 77 onward style (hooks up the exact same way).

I also did the turn signal switch, the org. turn signal is still aval. with the green and black letting correct for a 75 carrera. Look around you can still find this one...,

do them one at a time, less confusion. make sure to use the little star washers with the screws that hold the switches down so they won't start to wiggle after a few months

Thanks Carrera1975!

Excellent Carrera1975. Sounds like something I can do myself. Thanks

Do you know the production number of your 75? Mine is #215 Here's a couple of pics. I'd like to see yours.
