Does anyone have a link that details 911 engine numbers. I am thinking about buying a parts lot that consists of five longblocks and would like to know exactly what I am getting. It may sound like a no brainer, but I can't find anyplace online that details engine numbers. I only come accross VIN decoding. Thanks in advance.

There are serial numbers and then there are engines numbers.....
Engine #s are like 901/xx or 911/xx or 930/xx.... Off the top of my head....901 is 2.0 to 2.2, 911 is 2.4 to 2.7 and 930 is the 3.0 and up....the xx spot will tell you what the block started out as....hp, year of build, turbo, carbs, CIS, blah blah, etc...

Engine specs, Type No.s and Serial No. ranges for the early cars are listed in the back of the Stoddard catalog, among other places, and some scanned images are here:
