Are there any aftermarket boost springs for the OEM wastegates that have base spring pressures greater than the typical 1.0bar?
e.g: 1.1 or 1.2bar springs? If so, who sells them? I want to p!ss off my Apexi AVC-R EBC and just run a static boost spring. Getting sick of boost creep in these stupid things whenever the damn weather changes ![]()

Merv, whats the deal with this apexi thing? im assuming the EBC means electronic boost control? why do you get creep?

Andy, it's a very complex electronic boost controller which works REALLY well as a digital boost guage, but that's about it
![]() If I set the boost level to, say 1.1bar on a warm day, it will regulate perfectly at that level for that day. Once the ambient temp changes and it's a cooler day, the EBC won't regulate at that level anymore and sometimes peaks to 1.2 or 1.3bar ![]() I have to keep adjustng it everytime and it's just a major pain in the ar$e. I'd rather just get a static boost spring set to a level, or fit a manual boost controller and adjust it to the preferred level and leave it like that for good. This Apexi thing is crap ![]()

shame. although i spose it removes the ability to crank it up if you are having a bad day!

Merv,
Just curious - does the Apexi not used ambiant pressure as comparison or simply use a relative rule? My Profec B seems to use the relative method and its very stable. Back to the spring - I don't know of non-stock spring for stock WG but have seen many (I also have a very old one lying around) mechanical ones. Essentially the device lets you bleed pressure off the supply side of the WG to trick it into thinking there's less pressure; hence you can increase boost. HTHs...

Pretty sure it's just a relative rule, but it tends to go out of callibration every 2-3 days and that worries me. I'd hate to have a significant boost spike under heavy load, leans out the motor and BANG!
![]() I may just use a manual bleed controller. I've heard they are the most reliable and stable.

You can purchase aftermarket springs for the 930 waste gate. I've seen them as high as 1.2bar. Call up ImagineAuto and have a check.
The bleed-off system will work as well. You can use the stock spring and adjust the bleed valve to open the gate where you want it (above the stock setting). All you need is a good boost gauge and a quick foot to get off the throttle if your first adjustment is too much.
