New Shocks.....Good move!!!
After seeking advice on shocks from this board I finally took the plunge.
Most recommended the Bilsteins all around, and I have no doubt that it would be a good setup. But I had already installed new Koni Reds on the front last summer. And had new Stock Boges on the rear. I ended up with this combination because I got a good price on both sets. Well, after some driving ....thousands of miles , I new that the combination was not gonna work. Thats when I started asking questions about shocks. I could not justify 4 new Bilsteins but could justify 2 knois for the rear which is what i did. Installed them yesterday afternoon. WOW what a difference in handling it made. The rear no longer mushes out in a curve and the front sticks much better. I think it had made as much difference in the front as the rear, It drives like a different car. The ride is firm but not at all harsh. The down side is now the car sits up way to high in the rear and looks like one of my old Hot rods with air shocks. Sooner or later I'll have to tackle the height adjustment, but first I'll check all the other suspension components and bushings to see what else needs replacing. This board is costing me MONEY .....but you gotta Love it ![]()
