Carpet question

I have a '79 SC and have not seen many other cars up close. The only carpet mine has it the front is the strip over the tunnel the sides over the door jambs and around the front of the foot wells. Other than the removable floor mats should there be carpet under the front seats and on the floor of the car?

All floor areas are covered except for right under the seats. There is carpet on the sills, under the console, in the back up by the rear seats, and on the sides in the rear around the 3/4 pannel. the floors are all removable as you note, I have what I would call the removable carpet floors, and then actuall mats over the floor covers, so there are essentially 2 layers.
