~TRACK DAY - Carrera GT in-car video, Z06, 930
Was a fun, fun Tuesday at Pacific Raceways:
Ray G. with his Carrera GT  Let's go for a ride.....at speed, no pussyfooting in this exotic  4th to 3rd, down a steep hill, to 2nd, sharp right, accelerate, sharp left and haul ass up to 120 then snarp left, right and up the hill. That was cool. It would've been better if we would've seen more of the track instead of the driver though.

Ray has a multi angle camera and sound mixing console - yet has no movie of him driving. So I did it as a favor for Ray.

As expected, the ride in the CGT was phenomenal. The brakes were what really stood out. I tought my Reds were great brakes....hah.
The sounds - Outside: The shriek Inisde: No shriek! A growl that resonates throughout the chassis I was queasy when I got out --

 Yea Man!! Now that's what I'm talking about! That was the best in car footage I've ever seen from any car, including Jack's (sorry Jack). That one's on my hard drive for good. By the way, how does his drive compare to how you drive that track with your turbo? I'm guessing you're quicker than he was in that vid. |

The second video was much better. But a warning, it's almost 64MB. It comes complete with g meter overlays for accel, braking, and cornering. I saw peak accel gs of about .6-.65gs, peak decel of around 1 g, and well over 1 g in cornering.

Ray is a class individual. No attitude, just a normal guy. You'd never guess he has the group of cars that he does. 997S, GT3, Elise, CGT etc.
Drives them all - hard. That said, his lap times are probably equal to mine. His skills have improved since that 2nd video - he really wrings the beejezus outta that CGT. Going on his *3rd* set of tires!  Head to head?

He (and all of us) certainly can see well how he misses the apexes, with the camera strapped to the side of the car.
Now don't get me wrong! I'd rather miss apexes in the CGT than hit them perfect every time in my SC. George |
