biggest tire for 9 inch fuchs?

I have som 91 inch fuchs for the rear of my turbo look. What is the widest tire I can run safely on that rim? 245 or 255? Or what are the suggestions?

Also I have 7 inch up front I was going to run 225/50 16 does that sound ok? Or to wide? I do realize how tires are measured etc so If you could give some suggestions that would be great

Depends on the fender well and what you can find in 16 inch......245 for sure...I run that on my 8s in the 45 series....but it's on my SC.....

285s may fit but the actual sizes vary with manufacturer.

"I" would call Tire Rack and talk with them....keep in mind your 77 is a bit narrower in the rear than the SC......have you fitted the 9s on there yet? What size is currently on the wheel?

Assuming 9x16 and further assuming that you don't want to spend another $4-5k to regear the transaxle, I would strongly suggest,

225/50 front on 8s and 245/45 on the 9" rears

Crud...re-reading your post..."turbo look"....missed that, post a pic....

As to tire sizes....unless your engine has the oomph to back it ups, 225 and 245s are about what you want......anything larger and it's a waste of money.

I run 45s front and rear on 7s and 8s....

Its a turbo body so no problem on the tire fittment! tire rack suggest 245 on the rear and 205 up front for 7 inch wheels But my sevens I just sold have 225's on them

its going to be a 3.0 sc engine with efi and a to4e turbo in a week or so. Probably north of 300 hp so The tires will possibly be an issue

I've seen some tires list a 255, but only in 50 series ...too tall IMO. I'd stick wtih a 245 to keep with the 45 profile.

I think your best option is to stick with 245/45 on 9's, and widen the track slightly with spacers.

Porsche Crest

Kuhmo makes a 265/45-16 that will also work no problem. Check it out.

I love fuchs, but to me they are way to small for a turbo look. I have 225/and 245 on my narrow body Carrera with 8 and 9 fuchs and they look perfect. When you put these tires on a turbo look, they leave inches of gaps around the flares. I know they came from the factory that way, but I would sell the fuchs and use the money to buy rims that fit that car. You can go with some insanely wide tires front and back that look great. Just my opinion.

Do you want them to handle good or look good?

If you want them to handle good then I'd go with 225 50 16 and 245 45 16 or 205 55 16 and 245 45 16.

Anything bigger on the back 9" wheel is probably going to look like it belongs on a '69 Nova that's jacked up in the back.

Putting the biggest tires on a wheel that you can squeeze on is not going to provide the best handling characteristics. The best handling will be provided by tires that are on the small end for a given wheel.
