Boge Struts

I need to replace the shocks on the front of my car. The only part number I can identify is Boge 911-341-079-04 and 1 0211 32 172 1. I am not sure if I have Boge or Koni struts (whatever is there is black as opposed to red!). I assume the former as I don't believe there are Boge shocks for Koni struts but there are Koni shocks for Boge struts and Koni stuts and shocks.

On the rear there are Koni shocks, which tested just fine. The receipts I have show that they were probably bought in 1989 and have 18,000 miles of use. On the basis they are described as having a "life time" guarantee am I okay not replacing them?

Black strut housing for Boge, green for Bilstein and red for Koni.
Sounds like you have Boge struts so you can get the Boge inserts or get Bilstein or Koni inserts for Boge struts.

That first part number shows up as a Boge strut. Since the rear Konis tested fine, I'd suggest buying Koni inserts for your Boge struts.

Sean,

If you can raise the front end until the struts are hanging at full droop, and take a pic of the nut on top of the strut body [cartridge retaining nut] ... and post it, then, we can probably identify if the Boge strut is still original, or if inserts have been installed.

The rear KONIs are probably fine ... and about ready for an adjustment!
