Nice exchange on F-chat re: 997TT - and I thought we were the pricks...

A porsche 911 is a vw beetle with a different engine I totally agree, porsche don't have any of the passion or looks of a Ferrari, Porsches are pretty mundane and bland looking, my wife says they look like a Mazda or a Nissan, I know which I would buy out of a porker or a 430 I guess my favorite was Just checked FML from 11/5 to current issue, cheapest [360]was 114,500. Cheapest currently available is 117K at the new auto toy store. I have seen a couple priced just under 100K in the last year, but they were very high mileage (40-60K) and usually Euro cars to boot. talking about used 360's - "Very high mileage" at 40-60k miles - just when a Porsche is getting broken in!

If Ferrari guys are badmouthing Porsches, they obviously know nothing about performance cars. I would never badmouth a Ferrari's pedigree. Do I prefer Porsches more? Absolutely. But you have to give both marques their due. They are #s 1 and 2 in prestige for performance makes, no matter which way you rank them.

They are afraid to use their prescious babys. They might get wear off some rubber from the tires or dare i say it.... get some mileage on them. OMFG!!! Use the car? NNNOOOOOO. They are very beautiful and powerful cars, but they are for sunday drives to the golf club. Not for regular use. what good is that? Should tell you something about the owners when they need to knock other marques to make theirs look "better". I have met a few Fiat owner who drive the snot out of their cars. I respect them cause they use it as it was intended. The rest are poseurs and pretty boys who are more interested in "owning a Ferrari" than actually driving a sports car. Unless, of course, they own a Porsche too.

I have respect for enthusiasts of any make, because they have passion and are enjoying their cars. I go to various shows, like the All British Car Show and Merecedes concours, and the All Italian Car show down on one of the piers. OTOH, there are always Dicks, and I should know since my name is Richard.
