993 Oil consumption question
993 Oil consumption question:
Ok, For the past 5 months I have owned a '96 993 which has 61.000 miles on it now. 6 weeks ago my oil indicator (with engine warmed up, idling, on flat surface) was reading at the very bottom of the red......So I purchased 2 quarts and then the indicator went to the middle.....Great right? Now, only six-weeks later, the indicator is back at the bottom of the red, BUT I have NO leaks.....none....So I go and get 3 quarts from store.....after I fill the 993 , the indicator jumps ALL THE WAY to the top!! Needless to say I am confused...........Does the oil need to "settle" for some days , before the indicator (after warm-up, at idle, on flat surface) reads correctly? In other words, right after giving the engine some quarts, will it always read as super-high? SvK
