Unhappy A-arm bushing screwup - HELP

I screwed up. I pressed my new front Elephant bronze bushing into the aft bushing collar. Yes, I had already read the warning saying to make sure not to do this. But I got talking and ....... The only way I could get the bushing out without damaging it was to cut the collar with a small high-speed cutoff wheel. Now I need a replacement collar for the passenger side ('79SC). This is the gold-anodized collar that originally fit over the aft rubber bushing and then was placed and bolted into the reinforcing crossmemeber. Someone out there must have one on an old damaged or replaced A-arm. So after you stop laughing, please help me out with a collar for a fair price.

Kurt

I don't have one, but I just want to tell you not to beat yourself up too much. I for example forgot to put the starter ring gear on the flywheel when I reinstalled my engine and had to pull the engine just to put it on! A lot of these covers rust out and have to be replaced so you may want to look at a new one or just weld the old one back together and grind the weld down smooth. There is not a huge load placed on these covers so a weld will not hurt anything.

I checked with our host and a couple others, and they don't sell the collar individually. Have to buy the whole A-arm to get a new collar. I've located a used A-arm (with collar) for a fair price, but no use paying for the whole thing if I can find just the collar.

I forgot the throw-out bearing on my 356 engine installation about 30 years ago. Looks like things havn't improved much!

I had to buy a set of used a-arms as well to replace those collars. I could not source the collars individually etiher. Mine were shot because the poly bushings were binding and ripped the bolt sleeve off. I bought my set of used a-arms at www.partsheaven.com I took the collars off and then sold the a-arms, which were straight and nice, on this board. I ended up with only a few bucks out of pocket for the collars. Just call parts heaven and have them send you a nice a-arm with a good collar and do the same.

George,

I just called Partshaven, who I had not dealt with before. Believe it or not, they actually had two collars, and one was for the passenger side that I needed. They usually don't have them separate like that, but they just got them in. Thanks a lot for the info. I love this list !!!
