Someone with a 3.3 turbo want to trade for a 3.6TT?

No this isn't a joke. We built a motor for a customer 4-5 years ago. It was a 993 based motor converted to a 3.6 TT motor. It has K24s and a custom Fabspeed exhaust with cats. The motor is currently setup with Tec3R and to be honest this poor guy has gotten the raw deal. We built the motor, shipped it to him and it was a never ending saga to have installed. The wrenched destroyed the turbos so we rebuilt them, they messed up the wiring and we have tried to sort it. They took over 3 years to install it then The customer is at his wits end and has requested the following:

He would like 10K and a 3.3 turbo motor with the CDI, headers, cams, at least a K27 and intercooler. The motor has to be complete and have a leak down less than 10% across the board.

He simply is fed up and has never even driven the car. It has never been on the road nor even made it on the dyno. He simply wants out.

What is the catch...none. We have spent a lot of time cleaning up and sorting the issues that he no longer wants to spend another dime. He just wants to drive the car. The intake is polished along with the intercooler. It is painted the color scheme of the German flag. I can send pictures upon request.

Please no tire kickers. I am doing this as a favor to him and would like to see him come out of this with some dignity

Sorry to hear about this but it is interesting timing, I just pulled my engine last week for a tranny repair.
You know my motor, it's bullitproof.
What would it take to put his engine in my '78 chassis and get it running? Will it even fit in an older chassis?

TTs are cool but I have been intimate with my engine, know every nut and bolt. Stephen's former partner Michael hooked me up with my present motor's core donor. I'd like to know what exactly is missing with this motor keeping it off the road.

Nothing, it runs. It is not programmed and IMHO should have the injectors down sized but that’s it. As far as fitting it in the chassis the oil tanks need to be swapped. The 78 this is in moved the tank up to C2T location. So the plumping between the two cars needs to be exchanged.

The reason for this is the location of the turbos on the TT headers places the right turbo at the same spot as the factory oil tank. No room. So the oil tank gets moved like the TT and C2T or like an original 72.

It currently uses a Tilton to suck the turbos down, I recommend buying the 993TT sump and tapping the intermediate shaft and fitting this instead.

You will need to figure something out with the exhaust. Currently the knuckleheads that fabbed the exhaust placed it so the lower valance will not fit. Not a big deal. I had to deal with the same thing on Monster which caused the same problem. I just custom made the valance if you remember.

Brian; if you are really interested drop me an email about the motor and specs. It has been enough years I do not remember the exacts. I recall and issue with the case and do not recall how this was handled.

Depending on what kind of torque that sucker makes a 915 might be a little problematic.

Interesting thought, though.

915 will have serious issues. A standard TT motor with K24s will make 550HP without issue. It can make peak 600. The 915 will fall a part in no time.

Unless you are drag racing, a 915 *might* be OK. (as in NO slamming gears, or AUTO-X, -- a lot of on torque/off torque..) I had a C2T (450HP) with a stock 915 for 6-7 years, with no problems, and I tracked it hard..

Putting a g50, or turbo trans (930) would be the way to go, but that gets into the not cost effective range..$$

I mean this with no disrespect but a 915 can not hold up. You were one of the lucky ones. The main shaft normally will twist from TQ. The gears are also have the size and the teeth will shear off. If your power band is high you will live longer. I have a box of trashed trannies from 930 fitments

If I just didn't spend big bucks on my rebuild I would have been all over this...

Sadly it is. He is at his wits ends. He wanted to sell the whole car. I talked him out of that and this instead. He should at least get a year or two to enjoy the car.

I would only use my 915 with that engine short term, until I gathered all the parts to do a 930 tranny swap.
Stephen - I'll send you a PM, your e-mail address isn't working on my end for some reason. Mine is posted below.

Man that's too bad. I've met him a couple times and he's such a nice guy. I hope this deal works out for him.

He really is a great guy. It has pained me to watch this. People have really taken advantage of his good nature.
