I plan to replace all the fuel lines from the tank to the carbs. This is after finding my pump problem was due to a build up of a rust colored slime in the pump chamber. I'm having the tank cleaned, etc and would prefer to replace all the lines with OEM parts.
I have not been able to find a source for OEM ('68 911) fuel lines. Also I would like a source for the end caps and the crimper used to terminiate the lines. Any information on the OEM parts or even a good alternate would be much appreciated. The pump, a Hardi, seems to run fine (on the bench) after a thorough cleaning. I've already pulled the webers and will be cleaning and rebuilding them soon. Thanks, Tony |

You can find flexible fuel hose at your FLAP (favorite local auto parts store). I think I used 9mm stuff, with the screw type hose clamps. I replaced every soft line in Stinky. There was varnish in the lines (which probably is the rusty colored stuff you are describing).
There's no need to use some special expensive stuff. A yard or two of the auto store stuff and some good hose clamps will do you fine.

Tony,
Welcome to the Forum. This 7 mm fuel hose is available from our host and probably every local shop. When you remove the crimps and end caps, replace them with OEM ’69.> Norma-Schellen clamps. These are much safer and allow you to service the hoses when necessary. Don’t use the common screw hose clamps. They damage the hose. When you cut off the crimps, be very careful to not nick the pipe. If you need to clean the fuel pipe in the chassis, there is a bristle brush with a ring on each end designed for gun cleaning. Blow a nylon cord down the pipe and pull the brush in both directions. What is the condition of the brass filter screen fitting in the fuel tank? Best, Grady

Ah, a fellow-traveler on the road to a concours fuel system!
I was putting some information on this in the following thread. Early 911 Fuel Pumps and Regulators? The OEM caps are still available from Porsche. They, the hoses and the fittings, as well as the $1000 crimper to for the correct eight-sided crimp, are all made by Cohline in Germany. I have seen different hoses used. The gray hose with blue tracer in my photos is one, and I have seen that hose used on a 901 prototype. I have obtained an original Weber fuel pipe and it uses Cohline hose with a black braid. That hose says "COHLINE 251.0600 22 7.5x12.5 >NBR< - 25/98 DIN 73379 8' Okay, so where can you buy this stuff? I had a great conversation with Neil Mangia, who imports the Cohline stuff from Germany. As you would expect from a supplier who is used to dealing with global auto companies that buy in huge volumes, Cohline does not deal directly with the retail buyer. As such, Neil will aggregate orders and put a big one through every now and then. His line card is available here: http://www.newcoproducts.com/cohline/gateway_page.htm I would ask that if you are ready to buy all this stuff you contact me via private message so we can call Neil around the same time to aggregate our orders. Now, the crimper is $1000. it's huge, it mounts in a vice, it's German-made, after all, and the Euro/$ exchange rate is lousy. There is a shop in Pasadena called Carrera Six that has the crimper and will do the job for time and materials. I don't have his number right now but will get it and post it into the thread. I spoke with them, they are also nice people. ![]() That cap is a 901 101 219 00. It's actually a 356B/C and 912 cap, although it fits the hose, it is about half the length of the crimped-on Cohline fittings. You might be able to fabricate or source domestically a crimper that would work in a vice. Good luck! How about some pictures of your car!

Thanks to all. Grady, I sent you an email. What's left of the original hoses are all black with no tracer in the woven covering. The shop in Pasadena that will make up a harness sounds interesting but I want to also find out a little more about the clamps that Grady mentioned in his response.
I don't think this car will make it to concours level, but I will certainly try to make the engine/transmission look great, once it runs great. Thanks to all. Tony

![]() These are the fittings I think John is referring to: ![]() The crimped ones are used primarily for the high pressures of Fuel Injection, although they certainly can be used with low pressure Carburetor systems as well. I make up custom metric fuel & oil hose assemblies to order. I am at Auto Sport in Massachusetts. You can reach me by phone at 1-800-356-914-6 or by email at len@autosportengineering.com In your case Tony, I think the 7mm hose along with the good Norma hose clamps that are available from our host should work just fine. Cheers; and keep smiling, you own a Porsche. Len ![]() |
