Rev limiter around 6800 or so IIRC.

I bounce mine off the rev limiter on a regular basis when autocrossing.

The rev limiter is at 6500rpm. If you aren't hitting the rev limiter you ain't drivin' right. :D

I'd vote for spending $500 as follows:
  • Attending a couple of track days. There's a reason someone coined the phrase, "The biggest nut to adjust is the one behind the wheel." You'll learn some skills. You'll find out how to use the power the car already has. And mostly, you'll have way more fun than you will dealing with sheared off exhaust studs.
  • Good performance tires. The most powerful engine, brakes, and handling, are all limited by your tires. And you don't even have to get crazy and buy Michelin Pilot Sports if you don't want to. BFG KDs, or Kuhmo MXs, work well and are not too much money.
