911 Resale Value:RS Carpet Kit(seat delete)
Can anyone comment on selling a 911 after performing a rear seat delete with the RS carpet kit?
How hard would it be to sell a car modified as such (assuming one still had all original parts to put back)? How hard is it to go back to stock? It seems like it would be a snap. Thx |

When you buy something used, ya' get what the PO wanted. So you take out the rear seats, big deal. The owner or the person looking at the car will understand that they can go back in. it's not like taking a Carrera and back dating it you just fixed up the back seat area.
Don't worry about selling the car, think about how you want it and then driving the wheels off of the car. If you "wear" it out with miles, have a smile carved into your face from "years" of enjoyment, how much do you really think that will change the price, and will you care? Randy said it very well. Bottom line, no matter what any "expert" says is value, the "truth" is that value is 100%, completely, absolutely, subjective. Whatever you do to your car, someone will tell you it hurt the value and someone will love it and be willing to pay for it. Listen to no one, do what you want, and enjoy it!
With that said, obviously if it is poorly done, value will suffer. But quality work is quality work. The RS rear seat delete in my car looks good, lost weight, and my son can still ride back there because I put padding underneath the carpet. And you get to sniff some helacious glue while installing it. ![]()

I'll bet the majority of people wouldn't even notice an RS carpet kit if the seats were re-installed. Ironically I'm considering the same switch in my 87 as I have already deleted the seats.

johnnyo- I have not installed the kit yet.
Others- Oh yeah- I'm fine with making the car mine and all that. I suffer from anal retentiveness though so it's hard for me to make any decision without weighing all sides. I need to replace the rear speakers and grills, so it just seemed to make sense to spend the money for the kit instead, thus eliminating the need for those parts anyway. Has anyone gone to the RS door panels and ended up missing the armrests? I know the RS panels look good in early cars- are they too plain for a Carrera? Again, my pockets have cracked around the screw holes (anyone figured a fix?) and I've considered going to the RS panels instead of worrying about fixing/replacing the pockets. I never store stuff in the door anyways. |

If I find the RS panels in tan leather to match the seats I'll go that route too.

Don't miss the armrests, do like the added elbow room. Lack of "oh *****" handle may concern the passenger in a high G turn, but oh well.
