Boxter gearbox to aircool motors
hello all.
I'm seeking advice on coupling a 6-speeder to the early motors..ie 2.7-3.6l Please could anyone who has done this be so kind as to outline the procedure? Thanks David |

Not a good idea at all, you would have 6spds in reverse and 1 forward
Couple of guys have done the 993 G50/20 or /21 swap, Teo is doing a G50/31 into his. The issue is more in the chassis area than the engine. Lots of work to the tub and suspension are needed to do it.

Bill, that you for that!
I perhaps should have mentioned this is a mid engine install.. So the engine just bolts on, right? Useing the 964 clutch, or Boxter? many thanks again. David |

I really don't know about the Boxster trans, just that the G50/20 up, bolts up to a 3.2 up, w/ factory available parts
For all I know the G86 used in Boxsters is the same(or not) sorry ![]() Pure WAG it will bolt up given the factory's tendancy in that direction,

David-I suspect a search over at 914club.com would get you the info you're after. If I recall, the harder issues are the shift linkage.

Is the boxster a cable linkage like the 996?

There was an install in a 914 mated to a 3.2 posted on the 914 BBS here. Here is the link. Look at the posts by "abc914". He paid a shop to do it, and IIRC the bellhousing from a 915 was cut and welded onto the Boxster transmission. |

Thanks, Guys.
Look like it bolts up, but the starter needs sorting out, and one person think the easy way is to use a 915 bellhousing to do this.. I guess I could use one on my Sporto bell housings to take the starter.. Kind regards David |
