Shaving carpet???
I'm starting to think I was halucinating as I recall a thread somewhere about using one of those sweater-shavers to shave carpet. Maybe on a list of 'best mods I've done to my p-car' or something.
My carpet is a tad tired, not dirty, just...shaggy. I was contemplating doing this but having searched without success think I may have been a couple too many beers to the wind the night I think I saw something about someone who shaved their carpet... Am I insane?

I just used a set of hair clippers on a few spots on the carpet of a 924S I just bought for the daughter. It had a few spots where it appeared that maybe a PO had stuck something on the carpet then pulled it off resulting in long loose stragglers in a few spots. Anyhow, the hair clipper trimmed the stragglers off nicely.
Nothing wrong with a shaved beaver Tab!

Todd,
They make a special pair of scissors for trimming carpet. They are intended to be used to even up the height of carpet on two sides of a seam. They'd probably work better than the sweater pill shaver. I have no clue where to buy them but I bet you could ask the guys at a carpet store and get an answer. JR |

Pretty sure they use those scissors to trim the seam when they join carpets on installation. They have a wide balse that acts like a height reference so you can't cut too low.

Well, I found the original post! At least I know I'm not insane...
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/195257-little-things-make-seem-like-you-just-got-new-car.html#post1644930 I guess the carpet is just too...'shaggy' overall, with some 'stringy' spots, like where the drivers feet rest. I may take the clippers to some carpet under the seat and see what happens...
